Our Winelover & Sommelier
Lemien de Ridder

Her Wine Introductory course was experienced through the prestigious Cape Wine Academy and in 1999 Lemien took a 1 year leave of absence from Cosmos Cuisine to study Business Management and Marketing through Damelin.
Further experience in Hotel management was gained by working at a hotel in Claverdon England, acquiring hands-on experience in Food and Beverage, Reception and Waitressing.
During this period she completed inservice training N.V.Q level 3 in Hospitality and Reception before returning to Cosmos Cuisine. Studying part time again in 2008, Lemien acquired proficiency in Wine Evaluation under the University of Stellenbosch, and completed a unique Food and Wine pairing course under the auspices of a well known lecturer to chefs and winemakers.
Although Lemien is a single parent and her overseas travels are therefore limited, they include annual trips to ITB in Berlin and WTM in London. She has participated in numerious overseas roadshows including those to the Nordic countries, Italy and shortly Utrecht for the Vakantiebeurs in January 2011.
Lemiens’ varied and wide education in all aspects of hoteliership is a great asset to the four star Guest House and her role as resident sommelier is evident in the quality of wines and wine and food pairings offered at Cosmos Cuisine
